You can only see the wheels of the old mills, while the buildings that once housed the milling machinery have been renovated and are used for other tourist services (restaurants, retail and accommodation). Some of the buildings have kept parts of the old mechanics on display.
Where do you catch the boat in Borghetto?
The river is a water road. In our stretch, however, the Mincio is not navigable. We also advise against canoes, due to the numerous jumps and waterfalls, which are particularly dangerous. Better a quiet boat trip on Lake Garda or a river cruise through the lakes of Mantua, up to the Po or trips to discover the marshy habitat with the Barcaioli del Mincio.
Where are the bus stops? Where can I buy tickets?
Two bus lines pass through Valeggio sul Mincio, connecting the town with Verona, Mantua and Lake Garda: – APAM bus line no. 46, Peschiera del Garda – Mantua; runs on both weekdays and holidays. The most convenient stops in the centre are in via San Rocco, at the height of via Zamboni, and in via Marconi, in the car park of the parish nursery school (APAM tel. 0376.2301 – www.apam.it) – ATV bus line no. 160, Valeggio sul Mincio – Verona; It only runs on weekdays: the closest stop to the centre is in via S. Giovanni Bosco, in front of the car wash (ATV tel. 045.8057922 – www.atv.verona.it) The Municipality of Valeggio sul Mincio has activated a tourist train service that connects Valeggio to Borghetto on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, at a cost of Euro 2.00 each way.
Is there a taxi service?
The traditional taxi service can be found in the square of the Peschiera del Garda train station (045.7552348) while for the city we can contact Radio Taxi 24h (045.532666). In Valeggio sul Mincio there is also an active NCC- Noleggio Con Conducente service, very similar to the service that a taxi provides, we recommend booking Scaligera Transfer at the number 340 9545038. Transport can be booked to and from the airport, train stations and other points of interest, as well as for a party, a dinner or perhaps, in the summer, for an opera at the Verona Arena, for individuals or small groups.
Is there transport for bicycles?
From Peschiera del Garda to Mantua, the Mincio cycle path is about 48 km long; from Valeggio, about 35 km. It happens that many people want to cycle to the city of Gonzaga, but are afraid of being too tired for the return trip, especially if they have children in tow. The alternative is the Bicibus service offered by Apam bus lines, on route no. 46, equipped with a bicycle trailer for this purpose. This service is active from March to October, on Sundays and holidays. For groups of more than 8 people, it can also be booked on weekdays. For information, details and any updates on the service, we suggest you always contact APAM on the dedicated number 0376. 230339. Those who do not come with their own bicycle, but rent one on site, can ask the rental management they contacted: in fact, there are quite a few that, upon request and reservation, also offer a recovery service at the final destination. In Borghetto you can contact Pedalando vai ( www.pedalandovai.it – 334.7069934). In Salionze the Bike Rental service of Mincio in bike is active (www.mincioinbike.it – 349.8246245).
